HOW WE WORK

OUR APPROACH

Communion Collective’s work leans heavily on human-centered design practices, asset-based thinking and asset-based community development, and values-centered leadership research. Below you’ll find a simplified model of our standard mode of operating that we’ve gleaned from many years of experience finding the place where these wonderful principles intersect.

LISTEN TO UNDERSTAND

Leveraging one-on-one interviews with your team and constituents, leading storytelling workshops and conversations, reviewing your current programs, documents, and history are some of the ways we ground ourselves in your perspective and ensure whatever we develop is rooted in who you are and who you hope to be.

DESIGN TOGETHER

By using a tools from the Design Thinking toolbox, we ensure that the strategic plans, graphic elements, websites, fundraising proposals or any other deliverables are developed collaboratively WITH you, not FOR you. This way, we can be sure your expertise, perspectives, and values are reflected in everything that gets created.

TEST AND ITERATE

We've learned by experience that design is an art, not a science. But we approach our work with the minds of engineers, working and reworking projects to make them as clear, innovative, and inspiring as possible. Throughout our work together, you'll have opportunities to weigh in, provide feedback, and shape the final outcomes.

OUR VALUES

AUTHENTICITY

We are clear about why we do the work we do, what motivates us to push forward,
and what we believe is possible is critical to success.
What’s even more important?
That we live, work, act, and speak in ways that reflect what we believe.

CONNECTION

Work of faith, equity, and justice is unequivocally about relationships and people.
Therefore, we make space to understand,
connect, and care for one another.

JUSTICE

In our daily lives and in our work with churches and organizations
we work toward a whole, equitable, justice-filled Kingdom.

HUMILITY

Our perspectives have limitations.
In order to help people solve complex social issues,
we have to ground ourselves in diverse points of view
and make choices that reflect those viewpoints.

MOXIE

New ideas, new data, new designs, new possibilities get us all fired up.
We aren’t afraid of big risks. When we need to change course, we take
stock, take responsibility, and make changes right away, because none of
us are too good to get better.

IMPACT

We hold ourselves to high standards,
make data-informed decisions,
and orient toward long-term success and tangible results.
